Lash & Tha4Saken

In continuation of my pursuit to photograph more artists, I was happy to accept the invitation to California from my friend and riddim DJ, Lash, to document his pop-up show and capture content for the merch line of his new group project, Tha4saken. The adventure began with a 13-hour road trip with my friend & his girlfriend, Chey, to Los Angeles, with the decks, merch, and my camera bag in tow, ready to dive into the chaos. The way the popup was set up was amusingly brilliant- a rented U-Haul truck parked in a desolate cul-de-sac, complete with decks & speakers drowning out the sound of the generator with thunderous bass. Just a few blocks away from the 1720 warehouse, it pregamed and afterpartied an evening of riddim headlined by He$h, joined by fellow DJs beastboi., Grimz, Defyant, and AR Rolo and with an energetic, rowdy crowd that perfectly embodied the raw, underground spirit of the genre. Debuting alongside Tha4saken project was their specialty-made merch, designed & printed by clothing brand Forsaken Studios with daringly bold style and glittering calligraphy, which photographed amazingly against the backdrop of the grungy scene. Simultaneously shooting & enjoying some of the most talented riddim DJs in the game was a dream, which combined with the ocean sunsets, camaraderie, and countless street tacos made my first time back in California in three years one of my most cherished core memories. I look forward with excitement to working with all of these DJs more in the future.
