In Her Eyes

2023
As a female photographer who predominantly works with female models, I’ve always emphasized capturing my subject through the lens of the feminine gaze, highlighting softness, sensuality, and quiet strength. For this shoot, I wanted to explore shooting a male model with the female gaze. The model, Alex, was the perfect subject, as he brings a rare and gentle touch that makes him my favorite male model to date. I used mirrors throughout the shoot to play with reflections and perspectives, enhancing the concept of viewing him from multiple angles. Shooting through the female gaze is about capturing more than just physical beauty—it's about highlighting the emotional depth and intimate connection between the subject and the camera. In a world where the "guy with a camera" trend is so prevalent, models often find themselves in situations where they are merely objects to be framed, without a focus on their emotional experience or personal expression. As a female photographer, I approach my work with an emphasis on vulnerability, softness, and mutual respect. I want my models to feel empowered and seen for more than just their appearance, which is why the female gaze is so important. It prioritizes their emotions, their comfort, and their narrative, fostering an environment where they can truly express themselves, and in turn, produce work that feels meaningful, authentic, and emotionally fulfilling.

This shoot was part of a Denver Models event held at Realm Denver, which is always a great space to collaborate with creative professionals and expand on my vision.
